Stavroula Rizou was born in 1992 in Thessaloniki, where she resides permanently. She graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2015 and completed her postgraduate studies in Accounting and Finance, with a major in Finance, in the Department of Accounting and Finance of the School of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia, in 2016.

She completed her PhD dissertation entitled: "Cross-border transfer of personal financial data: legal approach" at the Department of Applied Informatics of the School of Information Sciences of the University of Macedonia, under the supervision of Professor Ms Eugenia Alexandropoulou, and received her PhD in 2022.

Her research interests focus mainly on the protection of personal data-privacy, cross-border data protection, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the interaction of personal data protection with innovative technologies in the field of Information Technology (5G, 6G, IoT-networks, smart homes, artificial intelligence).
